SMT #64

I'm squeezing this post in just under the wire. It's my Show Me Thursday for the Sassy Cheryl's Blog. I never miss a chance for a free image.

For the past couple of weeks, I've been working on changing a sewing machine table into a table with shelves on which to set my Big Shot Pro and have a place for my embossing folders and die cuts. A couple of weeks ago, I showed a picture of the sewing machine table. I'm not posting a pic of the completed project however until I've decoratively painted the table. So this week, I've been practicing Donna Dewberry's one stroke painting techniques. I'm not sure but my first efforts may be better than my latest. I'm not touching paint to furniture, until I'm a whole lot better at doing something besides leaves and roses. I for sure have to conquer the stems and vines(mine look like tree stumps).

Also, I just received my new Kindle Fire, so it's the second thing I've got going on(trying to figure it out).

Better get this posted while I can still get in to Mr. Linksy.

It's No No to Embossing

Cathy is again the Sassy DT in charge of the Challenge on the Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog this week. If you'll recall last week's challenge was No Designer Paper, and this week's challenge is No Embossing. I've kidded Cathy(and I'm really only teasing) about being in the 2 year old No Phase.LOL Actually it turned out to be a great challenge, and an easy once I got busy and creating.

This adorable image is one of Sassy Cheryl's new characters and is called Precious Callie. She and her friends Polly, Sally and Noah can be found at the Sassy Cheryl Store. I've colored her with Copics.

The digital background paper is from my scrap box(I love when I go there for paper.  I love this paper, so I happen to know that it was designed by Correen Silke and can be found at Computer Scrapbook. Com. The flower vine is one of my latest purchases from the Memory Box dies. I love it. And finally, last but not least the sentiment is from Create with TLC.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a fabulous week.

Let's Sparkle It Up!

The Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog Design Team made Sparkle It Up the theme of this two week challenge. Since glitter is a no-no for Operation Write Home cards, I had to bling with rhinestones.

This image and the sentiment are both from the Tiddly Inks store. This is one of Christy's latest characters. Her name is Wryn and this particular image is called Wryn - Grow a Little Love. I'm totally in love with Wryn. I've colored her with Copics.

The papers are from a digital kit from Shery K Designs called Lime and Purple. The sketch is this week's Sketch from Sketch Saturday.

SMT 63 At Sassy Cheryl's Blog

Well it's that time of the week again, time to post what I have going on in my life. Glad I didn't do this last Thursday, as there wouldn't have been much to post. However, Friday morning, when I got back from my walk, DH asked if I would wanted to go to Tupelo. Well HELLO, of course I do. There's a JoAnns, a Hobby Lobby and a Sam's Club. All it cost me was to take DH to the Harbor Freight(not as simple as you might think as DH takes a lonnnnnnnngggggggg time to make a decision) for some tools. Right next door to Harbor Freight is a Thrift Store. I do believe it's the neatest, cleanest and most organized thrift shop I've ever been in. I was looking for a table for my my Big Shot Pro. Imagine my delight when I discovered this sewing machine table, and it was less than $20. I'm going to have to sand it and either paint it or restain and varnish it, and DH is going to add a bigger top, but it's way cheaper than the material would have cost to build a sturdy table.

Over the weekend, I decided I need to really start working on some OWH cards. This is the first set of cards that I've done and finished this afternoon. The frog was a free svg from Shery K Designs, and the papers are from a kit from Just So Scrappy Too called I Toadily Love You. The sentiment is from Create with TLC.

And this final shot is of my desk this afternoon, after I started cleaning up the mess I made from making 9 cards just alike. It's not there yet, but getting there so that I can start making another mess. Do you notice my afternoon latte?

Did She Say NO Designer Paper?

Yes, that's exactly what Sassy Cathy said this week for the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog. I actually thought it would be more difficult than it was. So Cathy, you're not in the doghouse, since not only did I get one card done, I actually made two different cards. I didn't even get stressed out.

Of course the fact that Sassy Cheryl is on a roll right now with new images, certainly didn't hurt in making this an easy challenge. This first card uses the new image, Sassy Sally Takes A Bath. I embossed the background with the Sissix Bubble Embossing folder and then colored everything with my Copics.

For my second card, I had to use this new image from the Sassy Cheryls Store called Sassy Sally and Her Ladybug.  She also is colored with Copics, and I had to give her a red dress, just because. For this card I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder and the Martha Stewart Ladybug edge bunch.

Now for the good news. The Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog has changed the rules on what you win. Now if you're selected as the winner, you get to pick any two images that you want. You don't even have to use a Sassy Cheryl's image, BUT if you do, you get two entries in the challenge. Now how generous is that. Come on and join the fun.

Thanks for stopping by.

Round 2 of Round and Round

I'm so happy to be back and be participating in the Phindy's Place Challenge Blog. This week's theme is  round and round. This was a really fun challenge to participate in.

For this card, I chose this new image from the Phindy's Place Store called  A Fool In Love. I love this little clown and totally could not resist using him in the challenge, because I can see MM all dressed up and playing the fool. He's colored with Copics.

This time I went with circle papers from a digital kit from Raspberry Road Design called Clovis the Clown.

Show Me Thursday #62

Here it is time for another Show Me Thursday. In case you're new here, SMT is a chance to nosey around in other crafters' spaces to see what they have going on in their lives. Besides giving you a chance to just be nosey(which is reason enough in itself), you also get entered for a free image from Sassy Cheryl herself. All you you have to do is post a pic of what's happening with you on Sassy Cheryl's Digital Blog.

Just a quick post to show you what's been going on with me for the past week. Last Thursday was our last chance to ski. This is a shot from our condo, and as you can see it was snowing and overcast. These kind of conditions make skiing difficult for my DH, since the light is so flat, you can't see any change in terrain. You DO NOT want to hit a rise and go flying at our age. By this time, I was ready to be home anyway.

The reason you ask? Because at home waiting on me in TM was this Big Shot Pro. I had to unbox it Friday night when we got in, instead of unpacking. It's so wonderfully heavy(I don't have to hold it in place) and easy to use(crank turns easily). I've got a bunch of new dies ordered and can't wait until they get here.

Oh and I just had to include a little bit of messy desk for Cheryl. I have been busy this week.

I've also been busy working on challenge cards. I was in crafting withdrawal. I don't plan on doing a two week vacation again any time soon. The whole reason for staying for two weeks was to make sure that MM got comfortable skiing on the mountain. Here's a video(only 15 seconds) of him skiing on  a blue run on Wednesday before we left. I think he's got  it.

Round & Round We Go

It's wonderful to be back home and participating in the Challenge Blogs again. This week's challenge on the Phindy's Place Challenge Blog is to use circles in some fashion or form. I think I got carried away, with circular DP paper along with lots of circles and round things.

This image is from the Phindy's Place Store, and is called  Flower Top Fairy Dandelion Puff. The dandelion's reminded me of circles thus the choice for the image. She's colored with Copics.

The papers are from digital kit from Shery K Designs called So Special 2, and the sketch is from Sketches by Carly.

Be My Valentine At Sassy Cheryl's

Sassy Ann set the challenge for this weeks Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog, and she made it Valentine's. Works out well since Tuesday is Valentine's Day, and I'll actually have a card to give my DH. After two weeks in the mountain, I'm having a wonderful time in TM doing some creating and catching up on some DVR'd programs.

For this challenge, I went directly to the Sassy Cheryls Store for this image called Sassy Sally's Hanging Valentine. Sally kind of reminds me as a child, as I too was likely to be found hanging from something, usually a tree limb and upside down. I've colored her with Copics, but I paper pieced the heart.

The papers are from a digital kit from Shery K Designs called Valentine Day 3. If you go there today, she's having a 50% off sale off everything in her store. I used my Make The Cut software to create the heart circle and it's shadow, along with the open heart strips and then cut them my Black Cat Cougar.

Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate all comments. It's so good to back home.

Show Me Thursday #61

I may not be making cards this week, but I can definitely share what's going on in my life with you this week. I love that Sassy Cheryl does this Show Me Challenge. It's so much fun to see what others are working on.

As you all know from last week, we're in Colorado on a two week skiing vacation. I'm not sure DH and I have ever taken a two week vacation. Fortunately the bed at the condo is comfortable, otherwise, I'd really like to be home. That said, we're having a great time and MM has learned to ski. He's been quite the character and his instructor today told his DM, that everyone at Ski School knows him.

MM is quite the character for sure. He had us hysterical the other night dancing for us. My DH and I both love to dance, but let me just say that his Mom and Dad do not. Before he was born, they only listened to Talk Radio. This child has loved music since he was in the womb. I'm telling you all this because one day while in  his ski class, they stopped for an ice cream on the top of the mountain. Riperoo who is Keystone's mascot was in there dancing, so MM decided he'd join him. Here are some shots of MM and Riperoo dancing.

The night before these pictures were made, MM heard some music on the TV and  started dancing. DD found the IPOD and put some music on. You can hear me barely restraining myself. He's dressed just like his Grandpa, and they were swapping places.

Hope you're all having as much fun as I am this week.

Valentines At Tiddly Inks

I love the two week challenges on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog. I always seem to be running behind and am the last minute finishing my challenge project. The challenge for Challenge #79 is to create a Valentine. As you know, we're in the mountains for a couple of weeks, so creating a card for the challenge could have been a problem. However, when I was creating my last challenge card, I printed out two Wryn images, and I couldn't leave the second one uncolored.  I created this card hoping the next challenge would be a Valentine's Challenge. Lucky for me, it is.

This image is called Wryn - Grow A Little Love. There isn't a Wryn image out there I'm not in love with. She's just too sweet. Christy has recently added some more Wrynn images along with some sentiments to go with her to the Tiddly Inks Store. Please go check them out. I promise you won't be disappointed.

The papers are digital papers, and as I don't have access to my paper files, I can't give credit to the proper creator. I promise when I get home to come back and give credit where credit is due.
